AB1531 HANDS-ON JOINT ASPIRATION WORKSHOP FOR INTERNAL MEDICINE RESIDENTS USING THE KNEE MODEL

Background Arthrocentesis is a procedure defined as synovial fluid aspiration that has diagnostic and therapeutic value in both the outpatient inpatient setting. Thus, we started Phase I of evaluating in-house IM on their confidence level performing intra-articular injections. [1] We later designed implemented resident-oriented quality improvement teaching series. Objectives To design (QI) series at Roger Williams Center (RWMC) evaluate hands-on skills post workshop Methods Pre-workshop material, including check list video, were compiled by RWMC. A Rheumatology fellow demonstrated one-to-one practice session knee model graded based thoroughness checklist. Each resident completed post-procedure survey this workshop.
